• Beginnings…

If you had asked me just 5 years ago where I would see myself in 2021, I am sure that I would be telling you how I was planning on seeing out my working life with the corporate company I had worked for since the year 2000.

But fate had something else in store for me and I couldn’t be happier.

Back in July 2016 I had a car accident. It wasn’t serious in the big scheme of things but enough to keep me from working my corporate job or anything else that involved sitting down for any length of time. Although it was a very fraught period in my life, it afforded me that opportunity to get some freelance writing work, publishing articles for an online wellness site. I found a new passion for all things holistic and especially for Mother Nature. Getting outside was my therapy and definitely helped me through my healing journey.

Fast forward to 2019 and after taking voluntary redundancy, I was left contemplating what life had in store for a 55 year old woman who struggled to sit at a desk.

I had some grandiose ideas about being a digital nomad, travelling the world just me, my hubby and the laptop.

However, my neighbour who is a school teacher at our local primary school said to me one day, “You need to work with children.” It was certainly something that I had never contemplated, but I was open to anything at this point. I was invited into school for an informal chat and a trip onto the busy, lunchtime playground. I looked around at all the children, running around, screaming, shouting and playing. A huge lump came into my throat and my heart felt as though it would burst, I was looking at hope. I was watching our future generation and it rekindled something inside of me that I thought had gone. As a little girl came and grabbed my hand and led me away from the manager, I knew I was where I needed to be. Where I wanted to be.

I realised just a three months ago, after much contemplation during these surreal days of lockdown that I needed both nature & children in my life. Hey, what better way to bring them together than a Forest School (story for another day….hopefully).

As I write this, it’s the last day of January. Tomorrow I embark on a new journey towards a qualification to become a Level 3 Forest School Leader.

So, here I am with a goal, a plan and the motivation to make this happen. This blog is intended to be my happy place, where I can share about my favourite subject, nature, craft and creative ideas with your kids and putting my wellness qualification to good use to support all you fab mama’s out there.

I am hoping that if you read this, then you will stay along for the ride… it may get a little bumpy at times but finally, I have a destination in mind that beautifully brings together my passion for all thing’s nature, supporting our matriarchy and of course, the hope that can always be found in the children!!
