This session is open to children of all ages. Drop off is available for Primary school aged children (5 – 11years). Children under 5’s will require an adult to attend as a stay & play.
Woodland Explorers is for the outdoorsy, nature loving child who just wants to get up close and personal to the trees and the bugs. They want to learn whilst having fun and really explore what Mother Nature has to offer. Not put off by the weather, our Explorers are comfortable in the wild, woodland environment.
Held on Saturday mornings, the Woodland Explorer sessions are all about ownership and continuity. Your child will have the opportunity to explore projects and learn skills which they can build on week by week. They will have the chance to take part in supervised activities using tools and working with fire. The children will be given their own scrap book to record their own special moments in the wood. They will learn how to identify a bug or fungi, the seasonal changes in the wood and how they can work towards protecting the visiting wildlife. Mindfulness is a part of our session which is a wonderful coping strategy and can be used to help them focus on the present; the what is instead of the what if.
During the session, refreshments will be served around the fire and the children will be able to toast a marshmallow, watch corn pop or make a pancake.
For children to get the full benefit of the Woodland Explorer experience, we suggest booking a minimum of 6 sessions. This will allow your child some continuity to fully immerse themselves in their projects and ongoing activities. Every child who attends for 6 weeks, will receive their own gift bag with scrap book and other nature goodies.
