Tucked away just outside Derby, near the peaceful village of Kirk Langley, Hopyard Wood is a sanctuary for play, connection and gentle transformation. I’m Tracey, a grateful custodian of this soul-soothing space — where nature is the teacher, the healer, and the heart of everything we do.

For families and little adventurers, Hopyard offers joyful, nature-led experiences through our Forest School sessions, Holiday Clubs, Woodland Explorer groups and magical birthday parties. It’s a place where children can get muddy knees, climb fallen logs, forage for treasures, build dens, stir potions and let their imaginations run free — all while growing confidence, curiosity and care for the natural world.

For grown-ups seeking stillness, healing or reconnection, Hopyard Wood is also a space to breathe deeply and return to yourself. We host a variety of wellness offerings including women’s circles, seasonal ceremonies, mindful retreats, creative workshops and soul-nourishing coaching through JARIC Rising. Whether you’re sipping cacao by the fire or lying beneath the trees in quiet reflection, this woodland gently holds whatever you bring.

With a stream running along one side and open fields home to cows and sheep on the others, the wood is hugged by nature and filled with wonder — from the tiniest toadstool to the whisper of wings overhead. Our sessions take place around the heart of the wood, where the campfire flickers, the parachute canopy provides shelter, and the bell tent invites you in for stories, stillness or snoozes.
